The consecration of the temple of Subban @ Subramanian taken place on 7th Jul 2025.
On these auspicious days, shall we examine the reasons for the names of ''Aala-vaai'' and ''Alai-waai''. "Thiru-Aala-vai" is a name of Madurai. "Thiru-Cheer-Alai" is a name of Thiruchendur.

"Aala-vaai" - the tamil word 'Aalam' means the Sea. the tamil word 'Vaai' means mouth. A Huge Tsunami occurred in the Bay of Bengal, in the east of the Pandyan country. That Tsunami destroyed the Ancient Madurai. The soil carried by the Tsunami was deposited, and Nagamalai mountain range was formed in the west of Madurai. Because the Sea-flood (Aalam) opened its (waai) mouth, the Tamils had named the City Madurai as "Aala-waai". The epithet "Thiru" is added to form the name Thiru-Aalaa-waai.
The Huge 'Tsunami waves’ formed in the ocean have crashed near Tiruchendur. Because of that reason, the Tamils have given name to this place as “Alai-waai”. 'Thiru' has been added, and name became as 'Thiru-cheer- alaai-waai'. The soil carried by this Huge Tsunami has deposited as a long sedimented hills in the northwest of Tiruchendur. That hill is named as "Shiva-kalai hills".
The name Thiruvalavai for Madurai, and the name Thiruchiralaiwai for Tiruchendur are causal names. The Tamils are clearly aware of the Tsunami, and its causes. The names ''Aala-waai", "Alai-waai" are geographically based causal names.
Let us praise Aala-waai @ Madurai and the Nagamalai hills.
Let us praise Shiva-kali Hills, and the Alai-waai @ Thiruchendur.
Let us praise the ancient Tamils,
Let us praise the archaeologists.
